During the workshop in Barcelona, in collaboration with other artists, I built on and expanded the existing live sound-walks conducted by Arrels Fundació with homeless persons in Barcelona. These walks offered small groups of audience members the opportunity to be guided through the town district Montjuïc by citizens experiencing homelessness, revealing their unique forms of identity and privacy intertwined with the public urban space. Our aim was to explore ways to make these walks accessible to a wider audience, independent of personal guides, utilizing techniques from the arts, scenography, architecture, performance, as well as cooking.
Our work focused on weaving together sensory experiences and personal narratives within the urban environment—specifically exploring how private and public spaces intersect in the lives of people experiencing homelessness. We aimed to raise thought-provoking questions and illuminate overlooked aspects of our society, giving voice to those who often remain unseen and unheard.
