During the workshop in Barcelona, in collaboration with other artists, I built on and expanded the existing live sound-walks conducted by Arrels Fundació with homeless persons in Barcelona. These walks offered small groups of audience members the opportunity to be guided through the town district Montjuïc by citizens experiencing homelessness, revealing their unique forms of identity and privacy intertwined with the public urban space. Our aim was to explore ways to make these walks accessible to a wider audience, independent of personal guides, utilizing techniques from the arts, scenography, architecture, performance, as well as cooking.
Our work focused on intertwining sensory experiences and personal narratives within the urban environment, particularly exploring the intersection between private and public spaces, which partly collide in the case of the homeless. Our goal was to raise thought-provoking questions and highlight distinct aspects of our societies. We gave voice to those who are often overlooked and forgotten.
