wondrous realms

art residency
Wondrous Realms is a 30-day artist-led curatorial residency at Ubiškės3 in Lithuania, bringing together Lithuanian and international artists working across performance, visual art, sound, and interdisciplinary practices.

The residency focuses on artists who identify with or work through fairy-tale creatures such as witches, fairies, mermaids, and werewolves as lived, aesthetic, or conceptual positions.

Once used to mark queer bodies, women, and racialised others as excessive or threatening, these figures have since been reclaimed and redirected. The residency approaches monstrosity as a way of reflecting back on the diffuse and harmful systems that organise the present, from the manosphere to climate-destructive capitalism.

The programme supports co-authorship, collective process, and research-based practice.

Curated by Irina Komissarova (@ksswr) and Ana Lipps (@ana_lipps), with workshops and mentorship by Muza de la Luz (@muzadelaluz).

The residency culminates in a public presentation during the festival taking place from July 3rd to 5th, 2026.

The project is supported by the Lithuanian Council for Culture and Telšiai District Municipality.
